Sad news has reached us today that our beloved Queen Philippa, queen of Denmark, Norway and Sweden, has died. As we know, the queen has been occasionally ill. Earlier last year she was said to have been pregnant. Insiders of the court tell us that the already weakened queen had a stillborn baby. After this her health deteriorated. God has called our beloved Queen to her heavenly home. Let us take the time to remember our Queen as she was.

Apart from her beautiful white wedding dress of which we have all heard, we also know that Queen Philippa was a pious queen, with a great focus on the Vadstena Abbey. Insiders tell us she left a great deal of her fortune to this particular abbey and may be buried there as well. Yet, she was very important in worldly matters as well. She reigned as regent alongside her husband and is said to have been more efficient than King Eric has ever been (but don’t tell him we said so). Queen Philippa lived in Sweden in the first three years of her union, and visited quite frequently. The young Queen thus made herself more popular in Sweden than her husband. The people of Norway, Denmark and Sweden saw Queen Philippa grow from the 12 year old girl she was when she arrived from her home in England, to a real Queen. God has only given her 35 years and left her barren. May God take care of our good Queen Philippa, God bless her soul.
